Are you worried your kid spends too much time indoors?

Siim Eefus,

T
hese days, even with kids in ages 4 to 12, it's not as obvious that they are playing outside, riding their bikes, doing muddy stuff in the garden, it's not at all that usual as it used to be 10, 20 or more years ago. Kids today spend a lot of time indoors, something most of the parents are not really fond of. And they shouldn't.

And if in addition to getting your kid outside you'd also like to spend time with them together, then there's definitely at least couple of different options. If you have a garden, then getting out and planting together with your kid might be a good way to get your kid outdoors.

Scotts Miracle-Gro, lawn and garden care company, conducted a survey among 506 Parents (251 Moms and 255 Dads) who had a child in ages between 4-12. And who had also tried planting with their child within the past year. Based on the results, 98% of the parents agreed that planting is a great way to get your children outside and almost as many agreed that planting is a great summer activity for your child. What makes it a bit weird is the number of parents who thought that planting as outdoor activity is healthy - 86%. But that's another story. The fact is that those parents who had tried it, agree that planting is a great way to get your kid outside.

School’s out, gardening is in

So what else than start digging, planting, and washing your kids clothes! And of course, have fun with your child while doing it all. As that's what it's all about.
