My Mother
2 all mothers everywhere, but especially 2 my mother, who I have lost in death. This poem is featured in my children' book, "Dontay's Poetry Playground."My Mother My mother she has style and grace, She always has a smiling face. When we’re away, her love she sends, When our hearts are broke, she always mends. She taught us what was wrong and right, Never would she let us fight. Wherever she went we were by her side, Never from her could we hide. How much she‘s loved she will never know, She has a warm and sunny glow. She’s always there thru thick and thin, That’s why my mom is my, “Best friend.” © Eve Hall 2006 Dedicated to my mother, Mrs. Sweetalice V. Jones, who died in 2006. Her work has been featured in several magazines including A Poet's Cut, Skyline Publications, Saplings Magazine, Purpose, Mature Living and Weeones. Eve has won several writing contests, winning 1st-5th places. She also writes short stories, prose, and non-fiction. She has published three poetry chapbooks, and has self-published four books: Dontay's Alphabet Book of Color, Dontay's Poetry Playground, Enter Eve's Poetic Paradise, and Enter Eve's Musing Moments. She was a single mother raising two mixed kids on her own, back when being mixed wasn't the "in-thing." I have much respect for her strength of character and loving touch. You nailed it. |
