To Grandma With Love
Contributor ,
As I gaze out the window at my Grandmother walking swiftly up the path in her backyard, I sit in awe and amazement of her. At nearly 90 years old, she is as vital as any of my peers. She has as much energy as anyone I have seen in their 30's, and she certainly does not look more than 50. She is an amazing woman.

Jennifer Hallmark,

Dating an idea rather than a reality
Christina Pomoni,
Obsession could be mistaken for passion, but it is far more delusive and destructive. Passion wears out; fixation does not.

How relationships act as mirrors to reveal who we are
Christina Pomoni,
It takes a lot of courage to admit that what we see in the mirror of relationship is what we actually reflect on our partner. Our acts and our thoughts is us, on a relentless trip of decisions that ultimately shape who we are and what we become through the years.

Marriage 101: Equal Opportunity Fun

Marriage 101: Are We on the Same Page in this Marriage?
Jennifer Hallmark,
The back door opens and closes constantly as we lose the battle with the houseflies that keep trying to invade our rural Alabama home. True, the smell of grilling food must be tempting, pork chops and ribs on one grill with aluminum pans full of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, potatoes and onions on the other...

Is There Really An Excuse For Cheating?
lorna darden, Avon Sales Representative
Nowadays people are committing more and more infidelity because of lack of attention, boredom, curiosity, domestic problems, abuse and etc. Usually when you think of someone cheating it’s because of the other spouse mistreating or not giving that person the love that they need. In most cases that’s not the problem, it could be that the person is bored, or just doesn’t feel the same anymore about the other person in their life.

Domestic Violence & Divorce
Tamia McDonald Pizey ,
As a survivor of severe domestic-violence which lasted for over fourteen years, and a mother who had to face her worst fears regarding the long-term abuse of her children, I am still amazed (as well as disgusted) that the perpetrators of something as soul-destroying as domestic-violence are unfortunately so dangerously clever when it comes to facing a judge in a court of law.

Marriage 101: Fun through Spontaneity
Jennifer Hallmark,
I am stumped! The question was put to me, “Can you put more humor in some of your articles?” You would think after 27 years of marriage, there would be humorous event after humorous encounter and there is. The only problem is that a lot of the things that my husband and I have laughed together about would probably only be funny to us...

Karma, Balance, and why being “nice” isn’t always good
Kari Samuels,
If you ask most people about what karma is, they will most likely respond with references to “good” and “bad” deeds. Most people strive to be the best they can be for themselves and others. We want to be good. And yet, most of the clients who I see in my intuitive counseling sessions have to learn how to be less “good” to other people, and better to themselves.

Marriage 101: To Regret or Not to Regret
Jennifer Hallmark,
To regret or not to regret…sounds a little Shakespearian doesn’t it? Our last discussion being on commitment brought this subject to mind, the subject of regret. Regret is a major enemy of commitment and here is why…

How to Deal with Narcissists
Esther Kane,
I decided to write about a topic that many of my clients bring to therapy- dealing with narcissists. It seems that when dealing with difficult people, one of the most challenging types is someone who is narcissistic. Without getting all psychobabble on you and boringly academic, I would like to simplify things by generalizing.

Marriage 101: Commitment or bust!
Jennifer Hallmark,
Let’s talk about commitment; something we need in any relationship we intend to have on this earth. Relationships with your spouse, children, pets, at work; none will succeed unless there is commitment on your part and theirs. Yes, even the dog has to commit to not running away to the neighbors…

Stepping off the Hamster Wheel
Adele Alfano,
I love animals! If I had a choice, I would have a house wandering around. But due to a hectic speaking schedule and traveling, it would not be fair. As well, our family cat Rusty, whom we loved for 19 year's died of kidney failure a couple of years ago. As any pet-owner would attest...it is devastating to loose a pet that is part of a family for this long. I also know the benefits of having a pet: it reduces your stress level, blood pressure and especially they provide you with unconditional love. Win-win situation for everyone!

Jennifer Hallmark,
Wow! I have been asked to write a series of articles about lasting relationships. I guess they mean the 26 years of my perfect marriage with no arguments, fights, disagreements, every day just a day from a 1950’s family sitcom. Yes, I guess that is what they wanted me to write about…

Learning from our Elders
Esther Kane,
I've been thinking a lot lately about the amazing power of grandparents in women's development and growth. I cannot tell you how many clients have told me stories of how despite turbulent childhoods, they were kept on a healthy path due to the influence of grandparents. This is especially true in my life.

Esther Kane,
Many of my clients express confusion and concern about the new complexities of human relationships that have resulted from the advent of Facebook and other websites that make you easily accessible to the world, including people from your past. I, personally, took myself off of Facebook after about two weeks precisely for this reason.

Digital Dating
Esther Kane,
Okay - I'll admit it. I am one of those rare women who is very happily married and been with the same guy for over ten years and who is still blissfully in love. I also admit that my heart still flutters when I see my hubby at the end of a workday. I would even go as far as to say I still have a 'crush' on this sweet man o' mine. Sorry if that makes some of you want to be sick- but alas, it is true.

Writing Success - A Recipe
Kathlyn Fauchon,
At a writers' seminar we were given a smorgasbord of ways to motivate ourselves to look for ideas and themes. In one small segment we viewed a video clip of successful writer Robin Klein telling how she looked for matrial to write her books. She would observe her surroundings and from them glean ideas which she called her "ingredients".

My Daughters, My Friends
Tami Richards, Contributing Author
I have learned so much from my daughters that I sometimes think that if it weren't for them, I'd be a complete nincompoop as an adult. As I raised these girls, I was aware that I was the adult, that I had to make adult decisions, and I did, but I don't know if they knew how scared I was most of the time. I never actually felt like an adult, and I was always afraid that they would figure that out. They are now happy, beautiful young women of 23 and 22.
